Promote

When a Pawn reaches the end of the board on the opponents side, it can be turned into; “promoted” to: a Queen, Knight, Bishop, or Rook.

What it looks like to promote is shown below:

The Pawn gets promoted to a Queen, putting the King in Check

It is possible to have as many Queen’s, Rook’s, Bishop’s, and Knight’s as there are Pawns. A promoted Pawn to a Queen can be represented by borrowing a Queen from another board, an upside down Rook, or crossed Pawns.
