Rook

Rook
A Rook

The Rook has the ability to move horizontally and vertically throughout the whole board depending on position as long as it’s path isn’t blocked.

Shown below are pictures representing the movement of the Rook. The red arrows, both dotted and solid, represent what direction the Rook can move in. The solid arrow is to show where the Rook will be moving for this example. Even though the red arrows only reach a certain distance, the Rook has the ability to move beyond the arrows until there are no spaces to move in that direction, or if the path is blocked.

A Rook captures a Pawn that is in it’s path

The Rook can only capture pieces that obstruct it’s path, not including it’s own “team” pieces.

Example: A White Rook can’t capture one of it’s own pieces obstructing it’s path like a White Pawn, but it can capture the opponent pieces like a Black Pawn.
